Waynesville, NC – According to Bob Saville, PCA Zone 3 Representative, in just 3 years In Den Bergen has grown to be one of the top events in the Carolinas Region with its unique combination of a beautiful venue, great people, a super collection of Porsche cars and the low-key atmosphere of a People’s Choice Concours. These thoughts were echoed by Caren Cooper, PCA National Secretary who also added that the PCA National office has taken note of the strong interest in events such as In Den Bergen and is actively supporting programming that interweaves a social schedule with Porsche cars and the people who enjoy them.

This year’s In Den Bergen hosted 111 registrants displaying 61 Porsche cars on the first fairway of the Carolinas course on a beautiful day at The Waynesville Inn. Event registrants included PCA members from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. The People’s Choice Concours winner was Bob Kuchenbecker of Sandy Springs, Georgia with his beautiful 1963 356 B Super 90 Cabriolet . Other winners were:

The event included a raffle, donations from the public and a $500 contribution from the Carolinas Region PCA. The event raised $3,000 for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, a local animal shelter. Deal Motorcars of Asheville and The Waynesville Inn Golf Resort and Spa were generous sponsors that helped make the event possible. The ongoing support of Michelin North America, TRG (The Racers Group) and Pirelli Tires was instrumental in rounding out the program, which included a tire technical session by Kip Newton of Michelin North America and a wine tasting of Adobe Road Wines (owned by TRG) led by Winemaker Michael Scorsone.

Ron Becker and Jim Peterson co-chaired a team of Carolinas Mountain Area members (Broadus Brannon, David Butler, Joe Esposito, Mario de Francisco, Dick Maybach and Matthew Pohsweg) that met for a number of months in planning and staging the event. Response was overwhelmingly positive again this year. Many participants commented on the laid back atmosphere, the beautiful location and stunning display of the cars on the golf course with mountains serving as a backdrop. The dates of August 10-12, 2012 are already on the calendar for next year and the event promises to be bigger and better than ever.
