Fall Tour 2011
November 1, 2011

Could we have asked for better weather?

Sandy Shirley certainly picked the right weekend, the sun shone, the countryside basked in Autumn splendor and the mountain roads awaited the roar of 1st class German engineering.

On Friday night a group of us met in Hickory to have dinner, a good time and kick off the event.

Next morning, we all assembled at Paramount Porsche of Hickory who generously provided us with coffee and gourmet pastries.

At 9 am we all roared off in convoy driving on some switchback mountain roads en route to Little Switzerland, where we had lunch, relaxed and admired the wonderful view. Afterwards the more adventurous ones drove a 16 mile loop selected by Bryson Kiser to challenge the cars and drivers, while others soaked up the sun and the mountain air.

Next on the agenda was the drive to Lake Lure, which included some spectacular views from the Blue Ridge parkway.

After settling in at the resort, the day concluded with an excellent dinner, during which we celebrated some birthdays, handed out door prizes and for some, drinks at the bar and further libations back at the Apple Valley condos.

Sunday morning dawned bright and fair, as a group of us had brunch overlooking Lake Lure from the patio. Then on to Chimney Rock for some shopping, while others chose to wind their way home.

Many thanks to Sandy, Bryson, Doug and all involved in organizing yet another memorable event.
